Fifty percent of the time the way i think is ultimately influenced by the way my parents brought me up. I want to say that as a thinker, i am an individual but the truth is my parents did influence my thinking with theirs. I might not agree with everything that they do or all of the beliefs but i can say that with certain things i am absolutely like them. In conclusion, as a thinker my thoughts, opinions and decisions are all influenced by my parents and the environment that i grew up in, including all the struggles that i been through. Therefore, i see my self as a biased thinker at times.
As a writer i feel like there's two sides to me. For example, there's the me who writes in my diary, online private blogs, or journal, then there's me, the writer who writes argumentative essays, stories and blogs for my college courses. What i am trying to say is that, depending on what i am writing for and why, my style as a writer is different although i might still have the same arguments and opinions about that certain matter. For example, if i was writing to express my opinions against abortion for a essay i would say "abortion should be banned because it is just a way to kill legally." On the contrary, if i was writing in my private, anonymous online blogs i would say "why the f**** would this stupid a*** state punish people for killing but allow women to kill their babies." So what i am trying to say is that as a writer, i have many different side.

I agree with your point that half of our personalities and lifestyles are ultimately influenced by our families and the way that our parents live their lives. From a young age it is apparent that things such as values that are important to our parents, end up becoming a huge part of our lives and most of the time they are important to us. I also think you make a strong argument when you say that we do not always have to agree with our parents points of view or opinions, which is where our other halves come into play. We have another fifty percent that is our own, where we decide who want to be.
ReplyDeleteWhen you discuss having two sides as a writer I definitely agree. As writers, we can analyze or write research papers, but we can also write in a less formal, more relaxed style. However, I don't agree that we always write analytically for school, but also when we want to impress or persuade someone else, or stand for change. I think your blog brings up many strong points!
I totally agree with you on the fact that our parents do have a great influence on the way that we think. although i hate to admit it, i am in many ways Exactly like my dad. The way you write is also similar to how i write, when i am on aim or facebook i use really informal language, but when writing a paper i TRY to be as proper as possible. Great first Blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree that parents have the most significant of influence toward us. I catch myself acting like my mom, or laughing her laugh, and many other traits that have rubbed off on me. I also think friends have great influences on people, especially those of long term friendships. I also totally agree that many people could turn out to have many sides to them when it comes to essays versus online blogs.
